Washburn, Cara (20 Apr. 1942-18 Jan 2013)

Cara J. Washburn, 70, Mission, Texas, formerly of Neillsville, passed away on Friday, Jan. 18, 2013, at Docrors Hospital at Renaissance, Edinburg, Texas. The family will greet relatives and friends from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 31, at the Gesche Funeral Home, Neillsville. A private family interment will be held at a layer date.

Cara Jean Chesmore was born on April 20, 1942, in Neillsville, to Frank and Jean (nee Campman) Chesmore. Her parents later divorced and her mother later married Carlton Jones, who then adopted Cara. She graduated from Neillsville High School in 1960. She was a certified nursing assistant at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield. She owned and operated several antique stores and was a housewife and wonderful mother. She married Lowell Gress on Dec. 16, 1967 in Neillsville. They divorced. She married Richard Washburn on Oct. 20. 1990 and they later divorced.

Ccara loved to travel in her younger years with her Grandpa Bill Chapman. She traveled to Spain, Norway, Sweden and Hawaii. She loved reading, going to flea markets, antiquing and spending time with her four cats.

Cara is survived by her son, Scott (Sharon) Gress, Marshfield; and her special friend for several years, Ed Marks, Mission, Texas. She will be sadly and deeply missed by all who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her grandparents; and one son, Donald Gress.

The family would like to thank the doctors and staff of MICU at Doctors Hospital at Renaissance in Edinburg, Texas, for all their help and support.
