Last Sunday morning about 7 o’clock Mr. F. E. Blecha quietly breathed his last at his home, the Athens House. Mr. Blecha was taken with the La Grippe some two years ago and never recovered from the effects of it. For the past four months he has been confined to the house and for nearly two months has been unable to leave his bed. The deceased was a native of Bohemia and came to this country in 1858. In 1864 he enlisted in the Union Army and served until the close of the war. Oct. 29, 1866 he was married to Miss Mary Hubbing of Belgium, Wis. Mr. Blecha held the position of Postmaster for 18 years at Fillmore in this state (Wisconsin). In 1890 he came to Athens and put up the Athens House which has been his home ever since. He leaves a wife, six sons and two daughters; also two sisters Mrs. Schmidt of Athens. Mrs. Schuman, of Newberry, and two brothers, Mr. John Blecha, of Greenwood, and Mr. Jos. Blecha of Newburg. The funeral service will be held Wednesday morning at 10 o’clock at the Catholic church. The deceased leaves a large circle of friends who knew him to be an enterprising citizen, an upright business man, a kind husband and father, and a man without an enemy.
