MRS. HENRY STERNS LAID TO REST

The body of Mrs. Henry Sterns was brought down from her late home in Duluth last Saturday night following her death there on Dec. 29th, and funeral services held there last Saturday. Funeral services were had for her in the Congregational church Sunday afternoon, Rev. Longenecker officiating. The pall bearers were her nephews, Paul and Arnold Nitschke, Ewald and Oscar Krause, Carl and Walter Roder. The singers were Guy C. Youmans and Mrs. Wm. Patey with Miss Gladys Longenecker as pianist.

The daughter, Miss Ruby, with her uncle Paul Roder and aunt Mrs. Ernest Nitschke accompanied the body down from Duluth, Mr. Stearns being too much of an invalid to make the trip at this time.

Christina Augusta Roder was born Sept. 8th, 1860, in Germany. She came to America with her parents when she was six years old, living with (them) for a time in Sheboygan county. In 1870 they came to Clark county, settling on a farm in the town of Grant. There she attended school and was confirmed in the German Lutheran church. She lived with her parents and worked in Neillsville up to the time of her marriage to Henry Sterns on June 29th, 1898. Since her marriage she has lived in Duluth, Minn., where she died Dec. 29th, 1921, aged 61 years, 3 months and 21 days.

To her were born two children, Estella who died in infancy, and Ruby at home. Besides this daughter Ruby, she leaves her invalid husband, two brothers August and Paul Roder and two sisters, Mrs. Ernestine Nitschke and Mrs. Karl Krause. Mrs. Sterns was all through life deeply interested in religious and charitable work. During her residence in Duluth she was a member of the English Lutheran church where she took an active part until failing health made anything outside of the home work impossible.
