Brown, David (JUN 1841 - 20 DEC 1893)

After a long and severe illness arising from heart trouble, David Brown died at his home in this city (Neillsville, Clark County) about 12 o'clock Saturday night. In his death Neillsville loses a most worthy citizen, and his family a good husband and father. For twenty-ne years he was a resident of this place, and there is scarcely a man, woman or child living here who was not familiar with his face.

He was born in New York in a suburban town near New York city fifty-two years ago last June. He came from the East to Black River Falls in 1856, at which place he was married to Miss Anna Graham in 1863, who was also from the East. In Dec. 1872, they moved to this city, where for five or six years Mr. Brown was manager of Jas. Hewett's store. Since then he has at different times been employed by other mercantile firms of this city, whenever a faithful competent man was wanted. He leaves a wife and three daughters, the youngest two of whom live at home, the oldest is the wife of W. P. Miller, formerly of this city. The stricken family has the sympathy of the entire community. Funeral services were held at the Congregational Church at 2 o'clock Pm., on Tuesday, Rev. Robert Evatt officiating.
