Jones, Irving B. (1878 - 7 JAN 1884)

Died, Monday afternoon, Jan. 7, 1884, after a brief illness of inflammation of the Larynx, Irving B., the youngest child of J.B. and L. E. Jones, aged two years.

At no time is death a welcome guest, but there are times when its terrors are more poignant than at others. A week ago little Irvie was the pet of a household, and doting parents kissed away the childish tears, or fondly soothed his baby cares with caresses and lul-a-bye song and talk, or joined in his baby plays, little heeding the shadow of the angel that was then near to bear his away to the bright shores beyond. His little mission was filled and the Master said come, and in going he leaves many souvenirs of pleasant memories in his many baby acts and words, that will become treasures as time alleviates the pang of grief. To the bereaved parents the Republican and Press can but give words of condolence and to them goes out our sympathy but time can only sweeten the bitter cup of their sorrow.
