Harder, Margaret S. (13 SEP 1897 - 10 JAN 1984)


Margaret S. Harder, 86, formerly a resident with Rev. and Mrs. Norbert Miller of Greenwood, Clark County, who has been residing at the Thorp Care Center since April 1983, died at about 5 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 10, 1984, at the home.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Norbert Miller at Shirley Brothers Funeral Home, Indianapolis, Ind., at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 14, 1984. Burial was in the Washington Park East Cemetery. Rinka Funeral Home handled local arrangements.

Margaret Stamm was born to John and Margaret (nee Wenning) Stamm on Sept. 13, 1897, at Dubois, Ind. She received her education at grade schools in Indiana and business college in Louisville, Ky.

She and William Harder were married at Pennsylvania in 1940. She was a secretary and worked for Aetna Insurance Co. of Chicago for many years. They lived in Waukegan, Ill. for many years. In 1959, they retired and lived in St. Petersburg, Fla. Until 1968. From 1969 until 1975 she lived in Indianapolis and since 1975 she has lived at Lime Ridge, Wis. and Greenwood.

Survivors include two step-children and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband on Jan. 10, 1969, and her parents.

The surname "Wining" should be spelled WENNING. Margaret was born to John and Margaret (WENNING) Stamm. My mother's mother, Mary (Stamm) Miller, was Margaret's sister.
