Trunkel, John F. (20 AUG 1913 - 31 MAR 1992)

John F. Trunkel, 78, Greenwood, died Tuesday, March 31, 1992, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 3, 1992, at Holy Family Catholic church, Willard. Rev. James Lesczynski officiated and burial was in Holy Family Catholic Cemetery.

Full military rites were conducted by the Greenwood American Legion.

Pallbearers were James Snedic, William Snedic, Duane Trunkel, Dennis Trunkel, Frank Trunkel, and Tony Trunkel.

John F. Trunkel was born Aug. 20, 1913, in Willard, to Anton and Anna (nee Stalzer) Trunkel. He received his education at Willard School. He worked as a painter and electrician before entering the service. He served in WWII from 1941-1945. He married Sophie Gosar Aug. 2, 1943, at Holy Family Catholic church. She survives. He farmed all his life in the town of Hendren. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, KSKJ Slovenina Lodge, and the Greenwood American Legion.

Survivors include his wife four sons, John W. Trunkel, Jacob Trunkel, and Daniel Trunkel, all of Willard and Robert Trunkel, Greenwood two daughters Mrs. Charles (Judith) Andreasen, Minneapolis and Mrs. Dale (Kathleen) Severson, Curtiss one brother, Edward Trunkel, Greenwood one sister, Mrs. Ann Snedic, Willard 12 grandchildren and three step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Tony.
