ARTHUR STEWART


Arthur T. Stewart, 92, Withee, Clark County, died Friday, Dec. 29, 1995, at Oakbrook Manor Nursing Home, Thorp.


Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 3, 1996, at the United Church of Christ in Owen. Rev. Paul Kirker officiated. Burial was in the Riverside Cemetery, Withee.


Pallbearers were Mark Stewart, Daniel Stewart, Andre Stewart, Duane Frerichs, Gary Jepsen and Mathew Morrison.


Arthur T. Stewart was born on May 7, 1903, in Plainfield, to Michael A. and Hannah (nee Krusker) Stewart. He attended Abbotsford Public Schools. He married Charlotte Stryk on June 9, 1926, in the Withee Methodist Church.


They celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in June 1991. He lived in the Town of Holton, where he worked for a cheese factory. He started Redville Dairy in the Town of Maplehurst, Taylor County, which he operated from 1917 1945. They moved to Withee in 1945, where he operated Redville Dairy Inc. and Stewart Cheese Inc. until 1984, when he sold to Professional Managers Corp. He had been the first non Italian to produce Italian cheese. He had resided at Oakbrook Manor since April 1993. He was a member of the Rotary and Lions Club in Greenwood Lions Club in Withee United Church of Christ in Owen a lifetime member of North Central Wisconsin Cheesemakers Association and a past member of Italian Cheesemakers Association.


Survivors include his wife, Charlotte Stewart, Marshfield one son, Lanny Stewart, Marshfield one daughter, Ramona Scharf, South Haven, Mich. two brothers, Wilbur Stewart, Neillsville and Oral Stewart, Milwaukee seven grandchildren, Mark Stewart, Marshfield Lynn Frerichs, Thorp Daniel Stewart, Spencer Missy Scharf, Panama City, Fla. Andre Stewart, Marshfield Corina Morrison, Dallas, Texas and Penny Scharf, Grand Haven, Mich. and five great-grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by his parents one brother, Robert and two sisters, Hazel and Mamie.


Maurina Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
