FRED PERKO


Fred R. Perko, 80, formerly of Willard, Clark County, died Monday, Nov. 20, 1995 at Genesis Medical Center, Davenport, Iowa. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 24, 1995, at Holy Family Catholic Church, Willard. Rev. Richard Dickman officiated. Burial was in Holy Family Cemetery.


Fred R. Perko was born on Jan. 14, 1915, in Willard, to Joseph and Mary (nee Hocevar) Perko. He received his education in Willard area schools. He married Helen C. Lindemann on Sept. 14, 1939, in Greenwood. He ran the General Store and Feed Mill in Willard with two of his brothers before moving to Davenport, Iowa, in 1950. He owned and operated the First Last Chance Tavern in Davenport for 28 years. He retired in 1978 and resided in Davenport until the time of his death. He was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Davenport and an officer of the Willard Athletic Club.


Survivors include two daughters, Mildred (Eugene) Darrow, Davenport, Iowa and Ruth Ann (Dennis) Loter, Davenport, Iowa four grandchildren one sister, Olga Zimmerman, Cleveland, Ohio and three brothers, Edward Perko, Willard Louis Perko, Neillsville and Albert Perko, Seattle, Wash.


He was preceded in death by his parents his wife, in Oct. 1992 two sisters, Ann Perko and Mary Landini and three brothers, Joseph, Felix and Charlie.


Rinka Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.


Memorial may be given to St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Davenport, Care Share Program.
