Franklin W. and Maude W. (Spurlock) Shrimpton

Greenwood, Clark Co., Wisconsin

In 1900, Nathaniel C. Foster of Fairchild, the railroad magnet for whom Foster township was named, erected and operated the "Greenwood Roller Mills" with thirty year old Franklin W. Shrimpton as chief miller. Frank learned the skills from his father, George who was an immigrant from England and an experienced miller in De Kalb, Illinois.  His mother, Ann, was also a native of England.  George and Ann Shrimpton had a large family and were known to be hard working.  When he first moved to Greenwood, Frank boarded with the family of Theodore and Mary Anderson who lived next door to the widow Rossman.  Frank married Maude shortly after acquiring this position in Greenwood and their first daughter, Alice Janice, was born there October 16, 1904.
