Henry Ross

Neillsville, Clark Co., Wisconsin

 

Henry Ross was Canadian born in 1837 and worked in the Neillsville area as a lumberman.  According to the 1860 Federal Census, his personal estate was valued at $50 and he was not married at that time, nor did he have any children.

 

He was mustered into the Union Army with Company I, 14th Wisconsin in Neillsville, October 19, 1861.  He served as a Corporal until he was wounded in the Battle of Shiloh, Tennessee, April 7, 1862.  The wounds proved fatal and he died eleven days later, on the 18th of April in Mound City of his injuries.

 

We are seeking additional information concerning the soldier.
