Don Lipscy honored for World War II Service

Don Lipscy (center), of Neillsville received a special honor at last week’s meeting of the local Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) post.  The World War II veteran was presented, by VFW Commander Wilbert Adams, with the WWII Medallion given on behalf of the 60th Commemoration Committee and VFW Post in Saipan, Mariana Islands in the South Pacific.  Inscribed on the Medallion is the phrase, "Our Grateful Islands Remember," indicative for the appreciation for Lipscy’s valiant service and personal sacrifice in the battles that included those at Saipan and Tinian in which thousands of soldiers died.  Clark County Veterans Service Officer Don Lander was there and added his congratulatory comments.  Also present for the occasion honoring Lipscy were his wife, Hilda (to his left), his son, Steve (to his right) and Steve’s wife, Bonnie (to the left of Hilda).
