Daniel J. Briski, son of Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Briski, 309 South Eaton, Greenwood, graduate of Greenwood High School, qualified for the Dean’s Honor Roll in Mechanical Engineering during the Spring Quarter at the Milwaukee School of Engineering.

To be named to the Dean’s Honor Roll at the Milwaukee School of Engineering, a student must maintain a grade point average of 3.2 or higher out of a possible 4.0 during the quarter.

A total of 328 students qualified for the Dean’s Honor Roll during the 1979 Spring Quarter, and 98 students had a grade point average of 3.7 or higher for high honors. These students represent a cross section of those enrolled in electrical and mechanical engineering, in the engineering technology curriculums, and the industrial management programs,

The Milwaukee School of Engineering is a member of and is accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools.

Her fiancé isa 1975 graduate of St. Francis High School and is a business computer major at the University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire.

Mr. and Mrs. Robert Briski, Route 3, Greenwood, suffered a severe loss when their barn was struck by lightning and burned at about 1:30 a.m. Wednesday morning. They live 13 miles northwest of Greenwood. Besides the barn, they lost seven heifers, one cow, a hay baler and bale elevator, plus several other farm tools, and hay. The Greenwood Fire Department was called, but were unable to save the bard, but did protect other buildings which were near the barn.

Bankers from five Upper Midwest states elected Francis Voit, cashier of the Citizens State Bank of Loyal, as vice president of their group.

The election was held at the annual conference of the Upper Midwest Agricultural Credit Council (UMACC) at Brainerd, Minnesota last week.

The council is a group of agricultural lenders from Montana, North and South Dakota, Minnesota and Wisconsin, who meet annually to discuss the financing of agriculture. At the Brainerd Conferences discussions and speeches addressed the issues of land prices, the interaction of Canadian and American agriculture, and changing patterns of consumer spending for food products. The conference also featured several workshops on correspondent banking, the beginning ag banker and alternative sources of funds in agriculture.

Voit has presently served UMACC as a director for two years and secretary-treasurer.

On Saturday, June 23, 1979, at 2:00 p.m. Miss Susan Mary Lindner, Route 2, Loyal, became the bride of John Joseph Durst, Box 57, Hewitt. St. Mary Church, Greenwood, was the setting of the ceremony and Father Roman Kaiser officiated. Bob VandeLoo and Pam Engen (duet), and Wanda Wallis, organist, provided the music for the occasion.

Miss Lindner is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Lindner, Route 2, Loyal, and the groom’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Durst, Sr., Box 57, Hewitt.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride was seen in a white gown of silk organza with high Victoria neckline, cathedral train with Chantilly lace trim and a walking length veil. She carried a bouquet of red roses, blue forget-me-nots, baby’s breath and white carnations with peko streamers.\\The maid of honor was Miss Therese Lindner, Loyal, and bridesmaids were Miss Kathy Wirkus, Edgar, Miss Charlene Kline, La Crosse, and Mrs. Raymond Durst, Jr., Hewitt. They were attired in quiana knit blue gowns, with blouson tops and split sleeves. The flowers in their hair were button mums and forget-me-nots and baby’s breath with peko streamers.

Serving as best man was Raymond Durst, Jr., Hewitt, and the groomsmen were Bob Wunrow, Hewitt, Jerome Schiferl, Hewitt, and Jerry Nelson, Hewitt. Ushering duties were performed by Paul Lindner and Gerald Lindner.

Following the ceremony there was a reception, dinner and dance at the Loyal American Legion Hall.

The bride graduated in 1975 from Greenwood High School, and from Mid-State Tech. in 1979 as a medical stenographer. The groom is a 1975 graduate of Marshfield Senior High and the UW-Eau Claire in 1979. He is employed as a new editor at Mosinee Times.

The couple will reside in Mosinee, Wisconsin.
