Pfeffer, Margaret A. (Graebel) (24 OCT 1913 - 21 DEC 2012)

Margaret A. Pfeffer, 99, of Unity, passed away Friday, December 21, 2012, at Ministry Saint Joseph’s Hospital Palliative Care Unit in Marshfield with her family by her side. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, December 26, 2012, at 11: 00 a.m. at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Colby with Father Daniel Hackel officiating. Burial will be in Colby Memorial Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at the church on Wednesday.

Margaret Graebel was born October 24, 1913, in Sanborn, to Herman and Emma (Janke) Graebel. She attended Sanborn School, graduating from the eighth grade, and then worked for the Pfeffer family as housekeeper/caregiver.

Margaret married Frank Pfeffer on March 25, 1940, at Saint Anne’s Catholic Church in Sanborn.

After their marriage they moved to Spencer for a short time and then moved to the Village of Unity in 1946, where she worked for the Saint Croix Fishing Pole Company in Unity and then retiring from the Weinbrenner Shoe Factory in Marshfield at the age of 63. Margaret lived in Unity until 2009. She then lived with her son-in-law, Glenn, for a few years.

She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, traveling with her husband, gardening, cooking holiday and Sunday meals, playing cards and spending time with her family and friends. Margaret was very proud of her 3 great-grandsons.

Margaret was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Colby and its PCCW.

Margaret is survived by her son-in-law, Glenn Herrmann of Colby; grand-daughter, Peggy (Rev. Daniel) Zimmerman of Loyal; 3 great-grandsons, Luke, Ben and Zach Zimmerman and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Emma Graebel; her husband, Frank in 1993; her daughter, Darlene Herrmann in 2005; sisters, Doris Grage, Gladys Thompson, Beatrice Hanson, Erna McClellan, Hilda Lipke, Leona Bonin; and a brother, Erwin Graebel.

Memorial contributions in Margaret’s name can be made to Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Colby.
