Vesely, Anthony (28 AUG 1903 - 3 APR 1963)

Funeral services for Anthony Vesely, 59, of Milan, who died Wednesday, April 3, 1963, were held Saturday morning in St. Thomas Catholic Church, the Rev. Myron Maeinend of Athens sang the Mass of Requiem at 10:30 a.m. Interment followed in the parish cemetery.

The pallbearers were Leonard Bauer, Joseph Burger, Alex Ellenbecker, Arnold Schaefer and Elroy and Joseph Vesely.

Anthony Vesely was born Aug. 28, 1903 in Chicago and was brought by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Vesely to the town of Johnson when he was a year old, and lived in the township all his life. He attended Salvatorian Seminary at St. Nazians for six years.

He was married to Mildred Freimund in Wuerzburg, July 17, 1935. He farmed and did painting and for the last 21 years managed the hardware department at Braun Bros. in Milan.

Mr. Vesely was active in church and community affairs. At the time of his death he was secretary-treasurer of St. Thomas Catholic Church, Milan, and had been a member of the church choir since he was a youth. He also sang with the Abbotsford-Colby Barbershop Chorus.

For many years he served the town board and was on the board of the former Silver Leaf School, and later Milan District No. 5.

Mr. Vesely was in ill health since June 1962 and was a patient at St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield since September, where his death occurred at 1:30 p.m. on April 3.

Surviving him are his wife and three children: Delmar, postmaster at Milan, and Mrs. Bennie Mootz of Milan, and Gerald, Chicago. There are two grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Alex Ellenbecker, Wausau, Mrs. Werener Schaefer, Milan, and three brothers, Edward Vesely, Carmel, Ind., Rudolph Vesely, Schofield, and Leo Vesely, Dorchester.

His parents preceded him in death.

Relatives and friends from away who came for the funeral were from Chicago, Ill., Carmel, Ind., Rochester, Minn., Milwaukee, Sheboygan, Tomahawk, Wausau, Edgar, Athens, Stetsonville, Abbotsford and vicinity.
