Beyer, Elmer F. (3 February 1920 - 23 September 2012)

Elmer F. Beyer, 92, of Wisconsin Rapids, formerly of Neillsville, died Sunday, Sept. 23, 2012, at the Wisconsin Rapids Nursing & Rehab Center.

Elmer was born Feb. 3, 1920, in Globe to August and Clara (Meihack) Beyer. He married Dorothy Tramm July 25, 1942, at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Neillsville. Elmer farmed, served as a night policeman and was employed in sales in the Neillsville and Wisconsin Rapids areas, retiring at age 72.

Elmer loved golfing, playing sheepshead, bingo, the Milwaukee Brewers, watching RFD-TV and going to boxing matches with his friend, Chuck.

Elmer is survived by his wife, Dorothy; three sons, Larry F. Beyer of Neillsville, Allan L. (Sue) Beyer of Rice, MN, and Roger W. (Gayle) Beyer of Nekoosa; two daughters, Linda D. (Bob) Schmick of Chippewa Falls and Nancy K. (George) Porter of Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada; 13 grandchildren, Richard Beyer, Sherrie (Don) Cepress, James Beyer, Christopher Beyer, Chad (Sheila) Beyer, Nicole Pijan, Brittany (Jordan) Young, Jason (Lauren) Schmick, Angela Schmick, Matthew Schmick, Amanda (Kyle) Luebeck, Erin Porter and Ely Porter, many step-grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Elmer was preceded in death by his parents, infant sister and grandson, Joshua Beyer.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Wisconsin Rapids, with visitation from 11:30 a.m. until the time of services. Burial will be at Restlawn Memorial Park.
