Laski, Alice Helen (12 July 1923 - 11 September 2012)

Alice H. Laski, age 89, passed away on Tuesday, September 11, 2012, at Oakbrook Health & Rehab in Thorp. Funeral services were held on Saturday, September 15, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Bernard-St. Hedwig Catholic Church in Thorp. Rev. Don Meuret officiated and burial followed in St. Hedwig’s Catholic Cemetery.

Pallbearers were members of the Thorp American Legion. Visitation was held on Saturday, September 15, 2012 from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at the church.

Alice Helen Czernicki was born on July 12, 1923, in rural Thorp, WI to Joseph and Clara (Hodorowski) Czernicki. She received her elementary education at Pineland Grade School and later attended Owen-Withee High School. She was united in marriage to John H. Osowski on March 17, 1945. He passed away on January 23, 1973. She later married Jerome Laski on August 14, 1976, at Thorp, WI. He passed away in September of 2004.

Alice worked at the Clark County Health Care Center for over 20 years until her retirement in 1990 when she moved to Phillips, WI. While in Phillips, Alice volunteered for the Our Lady of the North Council of Catholic Women and also volunteered at the Price County Thrift Store. She returned to Thorp in 2005 and lived at Morgan Plaza until entering Oakbrook Health & Rehab in April of 2012. While living in Thorp, Alice found time to volunteer as a health care worker for the physically challenged. She also loved to read, work in her garden, go fishing, and to talk to people about most anything.

She was a member of St. Bernard-St. Hedwig Catholic Church and its PCCW, and the Thorp American Legion Auxiliary.

Alice is survived by her three children: Thomas Osowski of Thorp, Ronald (Mary) Osowski of Thorp, and David (Cindi) Osowski of Reno, NV; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Joseph (Bernice) Czernicki of Franksville, WI; two sisters: Marie Tranel of Galena, IL, and Irene Gryskiewicz of Milwaukee, WI.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her two husbands; and one brother, Edward Czernicki.
