Filipiak, Mr./Mrs. John (Gold - 22 JUL 1963)

Sunday, July 21, 1963 will long be a cherished memory to Mr. and Mrs. John Filipiak of Stanley, as this was the day that they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary.

Their special day, which was planned by their children, began with their attendance at church at the Apostolic Faith Assembly. Here they renewed their wedding vows, the Rev. Wm. Schresfler gave a message on their behalf and appropriate selections were sung by Jane and Bill Lee and by their son-in-law, Arthur Mansur.

At noon a bounteous dinner was served at the Hotel Stanley banquet room with covers laid beautifully for sixty guests. The tables were beautifully appointed with bouquets of flowers, lighted tapers, and a special wedding cake.

In the afternoon “open house” was held at their home with a large number of relatives and friends attending. Their home was decorated with bouquets of flowers from Mrs. Filipiak’s brother, Tony Gulcynski and the gold color scheme was carried out in the napkins and other decorations. A granddaughter, Janice Maki, had charge of the guest book and buffet style refreshments were served, including a beautifully decorated cake made by Mrs. Louis Gulcynski, a sister-in-law. The bride of fifty years ago wore a light blue dress of Dacron with a corsage of yellow roses and Mr. Filipiak had a yellow rose in the lapel of his dark suit. They received many lovely gifts and a purse of money.

Guests were present from Cicero, Ill., Dorchester, Gilman, Thorp, Jump River, and Marshfield.

The former Eva Gulcynski and John Filipiak were married in Junction on July 22, 1913. They lived in Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.) several years and then farmed in Thorp and Stanley areas until their retirement in 1957. They are now making their home in Stanley. They are members of the Apostolic Faith Assembly. They have six children, who were all able to be rpesent on Sunday for the event. They are: Mrs. Arthur (Stella) Mansur of La Crescent, Minn., Mrs. Mayland (Clara) Ogurek of Thorp, Mrs. Tauno (Dorothy) Maki of Duluth, Minn., Edwin and John Jr. of Chicago and Arthur of La Crosse. They also have twenty-two grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
