Stewart, Frank (20 JUN 1891 - 31 JUL 1963)

Services were conducted by rev. John Wreford of Chippewa Falls at the Thorp Funeral Home at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2nd for Frank Stewart, 72, retired Thorp cattle buyer, who was instantly killed Wednesday, Jul 31st, 1963 when the pickup truck he was driving was struck by a railway freight at 8:00 a.m. on the crossing on the east city limits of Thorp.

Frank Stewart was born in New Sharon, Iowa on June 20, 1891. He was married there in 1909 to Elizabeth Johnson. They came to Withee (Clark Co.), Wis. in 1919 with two children, Frances and Arthur, and Mrs. Stewart passed away in 1926. Frank and his children came to Thorp in 1928, where he was engaged in the business of cattle buying.

He was united in marriage to Esther Soderberg Warner on March 20, 1943.

Besides his wife, Esther, he is survived by one son Arthur of Thorp, one daughter, (Frances) Mrs. Bernard Schmidt of Hudson, Wis.; four step-children, Mrs. Dean Hubbard and Roger Warner of Thorp, Glen Warner of Wilton, Wis. and John Warner of Milwaukee; two brothers, Guy Stewart of Withee and Charles Stewart of Oskaloosa, Iowa; one sister, Nora Grissom of Sewal, Iowa; six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. One sister preceded him in death.

He was laid to rest in Riverside Cemetery near Black River, Withee. Pallbearers were Harold Christensen, Loren Bivans, Jay Alger, Charles Myrin, Leon Milewski and Edwin Schmidt.
