Zukowski, Robert (Am. Leg. Commander - 1 JUL 1963)

A regular meeting of Cecil Tormey Post No. 118 of the American Legion was held at their clubhouse on Monday evening, July 1st, 1963.

A letter from the thorp City Council turned down the application of the Post for a permit to enlarge the clubhouse because of existing zone regulations. No action was taken and the matter was dropped. George Mosher was engaged again to serve as custodian of the hall.

John Paff, as chairman of the auditing committee read a three-year report of the post finances when showed an increase in balance of the previous report and was accepted as read.

Delegates appointed to represent the post at the state convention in Madison on July 19, 20, and 21st were: Harry Badzinski, Cyril Alger and Sam Hagen.

Charles Williamson tendered his resignation and as 2nd Vice-Commander elect and Cyril Alger was elected to fill the vacancy.

Murvil Vanderhyden, past commander, served as installing officer and the following new officers were sworn in for the ensuing year:

Robert Zukowski -- Commander
1st Vice-Commander - Tom Polnaszek
2nd Vice-Commander - Cyril Alger
3rd Vice-Commander - Julius Morgan
Adjutant - A.E. Bauer
Finance Officer - Gene Oberle
Service Officer - Robert Elkins
Historian - Wm. S. Warner
Chaplain - Harry Badzinski
Sergeant At Arms - Wilferd Vanderhyden

Ron Sandel, who attended Bader Boys State this year will give a talk at the next regular Post Meeting.

Outgoing Commander Cyril Alger is the first member of Cecil Tormey Post No. 118 to serve in that capacity continuously for three years. These years were full of activity for the benefit of the community and the American Legion, both socially and financially. Other officers also did a fine job.
