Leu, Eugene D. (8 MAY 1928 - 2 AUG 2012)


Eugene D. Leu, age 84, of Colby, passed away Thursday, August 2, 2012, at his residence in the Town of Hull.

A memorial service were held on Monday, August 6, 2012, at the Colby Lion’s Shelter in Colby at 11:00 am with Mr. Ronald Uhlig officiating. Burial will take place at the Christ Lutheran Cemetery in the Town of Holton.

Eugene was born May 8, 1928, to Albert and Anna (Baronsky) Leu in the Town of Hull. He attended Pleasant Hill School and then Riverside School in rural Colby. Eugene was united in marriage to Phyllis Lindberg in 1950.

Eugene worked for Pathfinder Mobile Homes in Spencer and did masonry work, he also installed furnaces and helped his son Allen at the Abbotsford Movie Theater in his spare time.

He enjoyed retirement, especially hunting, fishing, trapping, animal watching out of his house, eating whoppers candy and he also loved to cook.

Eugene is loving survived by his children; Allen Leu, Randy (Pauline) Leu, Sherry (Mike) Hellerud, Debbie (Eugene) Karlen, Dawn (Bruce) Bembenek, Cindy (Michael) Block, sister; Audrey Hardrath, grandchildren; Kristy (Allan) Bender, Kim Leu, Travis Leu, Kari (Ryan) Magee, Kurt (Jamie) Leu, Ryan Leu, Amanda (Tim Hoefs) Karlen, Angela Karlen, Wesley Schmidt, Ashley (Lee Weisenberger) Schmidt, Clint Block, Brent Block, and Harley Block, and two great-grandchildren; Cody and Nick Bender.

Eugene is preceded in death by his parents; Albert and Anna Leu, wife; Phyllis Leu, brother; Chet Leu and sister; Bernice Bargenquast.
