Marcella Sophie Depa was born on October 28, 1919 in the Town of Taft, Taylor County, to Paul and Anna (Pozdol) Depa, the eldest of 13 children. She was raised on the family farm and received her education at the Red Brick School in the Town of Taft. At the age of 17, Marcella moved to Chicago, Ill. and worked at Western Electric and at the Kimball Piano Company. She continued to help the family back home by sending most of her paychecks to them. Later she helped many of her siblings gain employment in the big city. She was united in marriage to Ted A. Kaszubowski on November 13, 1948 at St. Mary's Czestochowa Catholic Church, rural Stanley. They farmed in the Town of Thorp until retiring in 1982. Together they raised six children and taught them strong values, good work ethics and to always help others.

In her spare time, Marcella loved growing large gardens, canning anything and everything, sewing, making patchwork quilts, creating family history journals and photo albums, cooking up a huge pot of chicken soup on Sundays for anyone that might stop over, and spending time and babysitting her precious grandchildren. Her love of family and her faith in God molded her into a very caring, giving, compassionate, and strong-willed woman.

She was a member of the Rosary & Altar Society at St. Mary's Czestochowa, and also was a member of the PCCW at St. Bernard-St. Hedwig's Catholic Church.

She is survived by her children, Carol Kaszubowski (Theresa), Thorp; Betty (Louis Jr.) Stokosa, Lublin; Pat (Neil) Alger, Thorp; Robert (Debra) Kaszubowski, Thorp; Bonnie (Adam) Niedzwiecki, Thorp; Linda (Mike) Jordan, Lafayette, Ind.; 18 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Louis (Bernice) Depa, Thorp; Peter (Alvina) Depa, Stanley; Joseph (Joan) Depa, St. John, Ind.; two sisters, Julie Wiklanski, Petosky, Mich.; Pauline Andronowitz, Shelton, Conn.; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ted, on November 7, 2008; her parents; one daughter, Janice Kaszubowski, in infancy; four brothers, Frank, Andrew, Anton and John Depa; and three sisters, Helen Filipek, Frances Norks and Agnes Zielke.
