Opuchen, John (7 DEC 1899 - 12 OCT 1962)

Funeral services for John Opachen were held Oct. 15th at the St. Stanislaus Cemetery with Rev. Edward Cyz officiating. Pallbearers were Bernard Skilecki, Raymond Kosla, ted Popowski, Louis Stokosa, John Slomka, and Adam Pawlicki.

Mr. Opachen passed away at the Stanley Memorial Hospital October 12th, 1962, where he was confined as a result of a tractor accident.

He was born Deb. 7, 1899 in Cullman, Ill.; married Nellie Smigla Sept. 28, 1935 and later moved to the town of Roosevelt where they made their home. Mr. Opachen was employed by the Taylor County Highway Department and operated a farm.

He is survived by his wife, Nellie; sons Leonard and John; daughter (Joan) Mrs. Wm. Papp, (Geraldine) Mrs. Wilson Manuel; three grandsons, Mark and Michael Opachen, and Billy Joe Papp; five brothers, Anthony, Pete, Joe, Leon and Paul, one sister, (Mary) Mrs. Casimer Bernas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Louis and one sister, Bertha.

Out of town friend and relatives came from Chicago, Cicero, Manitowoc, Milwaukee, Stevens Point, Platteville, Medford, Thorp, Gilman, Stanley and Withee.
