Baldwin, Carlysle Franklin (7 October 1900 - December 1966)

Funeral services were held Saturday for Carlysle Franklin “Curly’ Baldwin, 66, of 238 E. 7th Street, Richland Center, who died in the Veterans Hospital in Madison following a long illness. Burial was made in Richland Center Cemetery.

Mr. Baldwin was born October 7, 1900, in Mattoon, Ill. On June 9, 1925 he was married to the former Mayme McCune.

He was a veteran of World War I, having served in the navy; and was a member of R. C. American Legion Post; Greenwood Lodge, No. 249, F. & A. M.; and of Trinity Methodist Church in Richland Center.

Mr. Baldwin farmed in Clark County for 11 years and helped to organize the Clark Electrical Cooperative, becoming one of its first directors to obtain easements. He also worked as a lineman in constructing the first lines of the cooperative. He managed the Price Electric Cooperative from 1941 to 1944 and had been manager of the Richland Electric Cooperative since 1944.

He served as chairman of the Trinity Methodist Church trustees and chairman of building committee for the proposed education wing.

He is survived by his wife, who lives in Richland Center; a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Dora) Johnson of Denver, Col.; two sons, Carlysle F. Jr., of Washington, Ill.; and Frank E. of Sun Prairie; and a brother, Paul of Muskegon, Mich.
