Badzinski, Kathleen (12 AUG 1961)

Mr. Donald Soderberg, son of Mr. and Mrs. Pat Soderberg, and Miss Kathleen Badzinski, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Louis M. Badzinski of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.), were joined in the holy bonds of matrimony by the Rev. Hebert Hoffman at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in the city at a nuptial high Mass at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 12th, 1961.

The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, was attired in a four-tiered floor length gown of scalloped embroidered nylon with scalloped Sabrina neckline and scalloped sleeves. Her silk illusion fingertip veil fell from a double crown accented with pearls. She wore a cascade bouquet of white carnations, pink sweetheart roses and ivy.

Her sister, Marcelene Badzinski, was maid of honor. Her sisters, Germaine, Rosemary and Louella Badzinski, and the groom’s sister, Carol Soderberg, were bridesmaids. They wore dresses of white nylon, street length. Each dress was embroidered with different pastel flowers throughout, accented by pleated cummerbunds with chemise bow in back, scoop neckline and full skirt over white taffeta with short sleeves. Their headpieces were of bows of white silk organza and white blusher veils. They carried nosegays of white pompoms and pink carnations, which completed their costumes. All dresses were made by the bride’s sister.

The alter was adorned with pink and white gladiolas for the wedding and members of St. Bernard’s Junior Choir sang the nuptial high Mass.

During the ceremony the bride place a bouquet of white gladiolas at the altar of the Blessed Virgin.

William Soderberg was best man for his brother’s wedding, and the bride’s brother, Robert Badzinski, and friends John Klouda of Thorp and Robert Thompson of Spooner, were groomsmen. Len Stewart of Eau Claire and Harry Confare of Milwaukee served as ushers.

Dinner was served to about 22 guests at St. Bernard’s Hall after the ceremony and a reception was held to the couple at the home of the bride’s parents.

Both the bride and groom are lifetime residents of Thorp and graduates of Thorp High School. The bride graduated from Eau Claire State College and will be employed as a teacher in the Wausau Public Schools. The groom is a graduate of the La Crosse State College and will teach at the John Muir Junior High School at Wausau.

The newlyweds are spending their honeymoon in Canada and on their return will reside at 430 N. 3rd Ave. at Wausau.
