Stoiber, Robert "Bob" J. (22 JAN 1923 - 21 MAY 2012)

Robert "Bob" J. Stoiber, 84, Dorchester, died on Saturday, May 19 at his home.

A memorial mass was held on Wednesday, May 23 at St. Louis Catholic Church in Dorchester, with Rev. Daniel Hackel officiating. Burial was at Dorchester Memorial Cemetery, with military rights conducted by the Dorchester American Legion Leach-Paulson Post No. 517.

Life Tributes Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Spencer assisted the family with arrangements.

Robert Stoiber was born on November 26, 1927 in the Town of Mayville, Clark County, to the late John and Emma (Gabriel) Stoiber. He graduated from St. Louis Catholic School in 1941, and served in the National Guard and United States Army during the Korean War.

On September 26, 1951 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Medford, he married Adeline Brushaber, who survives. They farmed and he worked as a cheesemaker at Cloverhill Co-op in Curtiss, Dorchester Cheese Company in Dorchester and Marathon-Clark Co-op in Abbotsford where he was also a manager. He then worked as a cheesemaker and manager at Pleasant View Co-op Dairy in Medford until retiring in 1992.

He was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church and Dorchester American Legion Leach-Paulson Post No. 517, served on the board of directors and as president of the Marketing Association of America, served on the board of directors of Dorchester Memorial Cemetery, and in 1984 received the L.D. Schreiber Foods gold watch in recognition of installing a rapid cooling system and producing over 99 per cent state brand cheese in 1983. He enjoyed woodworking and working on and restoring his antique Ford 8N tractor.

In addition to his wife, survivors include two sons, John of Dorchester and Robert Jr. (Jane) of Curtiss; four daughters, Marjean Zoellick, Cheryl (Jerry) Vanlue, Mary Londre and Theresa (Terry) Faude, all of Dorchester; a sister, Agnes Danen of Dorchester; six grandchildren; and seven-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Gerald, in infancy; a sister, Dorothy McKinney; and his step-father, Herman Baumer.
