Jennings, Berlie M. (30 AUG 1909 - 18 FEB 1961)

Berlie Martin Jennings, 51, a former resident of Chippewa Falls, but who for some time has resided 3 miles east of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.), where he operated a farm and tavern, passed away Saturday night.  He had been in poor health for some time.

Mr. Jenning’s body was found in a cabin at a gravel pit near Black River Saturday morning.  He apparently suffered a heart attack during the night as he took care of the hoses which were being used to keep the gravel from freezing, Sheriff Ray Kutsche of Clark County reported.  The body was discovered by Tony Weiting of Neillsville, when he reported for duty at 8 o’clock.

Mr. Jennings was born in Viola, Wis., Aug. 30, 1909.

He is survived by his wife, formerly Ethel Vetterkind and one daughter, Mrs. Robert (Lucille) Zimmerman of Boyd; two grandchildren, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Nile Jennings of Jim Falls; four sisters, Mrs. Earl (Mildred) Hayden, Pierson, Mich.; Mrs. Clive (Delma) Ambrose, Madison; Mrs. Garland (Cleone) Gochenau of Richland Center; Mrs. Carl (Pauline) Crosby, Camas, Wash.; one brother, Marion Fernadine, Fla.  One brother, Herbert, preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held at St. Katherine’s Episcopal Church at Owen at ten o’clock Wednesday morning, Feb. 22, Rev. John L. English officiating, and interment followed in the Riverside Cemetery near Black River, West of Withee.
