Kobylarczyk, Leon R. (28 May 1921 - 19 April 2012) With Flag

 

Leon R. Kobylarczyk, age 90, of Plainfield, IL, formerly of Summit, IL, passed away on Thursday, April 19, 2012, at Palos Community Hospital, Palos Heights, Illinois.

 

Leon was born on May 28, 1921, on the family farm in Thorp, Wisconsin, to Joseph and Julia Kobylarczyk.  His childhood was spent going to school and working on the farm along with his three brothers and seven sisters.  He served during World War II in the Navy Seabees in the South Pacific.  After the war, Leon moved to the Chicago area and was employed by the Corn Products Company as a machinist. There he met his wife, Elaine, and the two began raising a family. After retirement, the two moved to Plainfield, Illinois. Leon enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling and gardening.

 

Leon was the beloved father of Kenneth, Kathleen (Alfredo) Ruvalcaba and Mark (Linda); devoted grandfather of Alexandria; fond brother of Pauline, Josephine (John) Rysz, Martha (Cyril) Alger and Marge (Don) Hoffman; uncle of many nieces and nephews.

 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Elaine; parents, Joseph and Julia; siblings: Thomas (Helen), Louis (Antonette), Raymond (Gladys), Marie (Marlon) Chaplinski, Elizabeth, and Louise (Harold) Sorenson; also a granddaughter, Karen.

 

Funeral services were held on Monday, April 23, 2012, at 9:30 a.m. from Anderson Memorial Chapel, 606 Townhall Dr. Romeoville, IL to St. Andrew Catholic Church for a Mass at 10 a.m.  Visitation was held on Sunday, April 22, 2012 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

 

Entombment was a Resurrection Mausoleum, Romeoville, IL.
