Oscar F. Cornwall

Thorp, Clark County, Wisconsin

 

Oscar F. Cornwall was born Nov 1827 NY, the son of Smith and Polly (Stevens) Cornwell, both natives of New York. His parents died and are buried in Jefferson County, that State.  In 1849 he married Elizabeth Owens/Orvine who was born in 1829 in NY.  They made their home in Theresa, Jefferson, New York and their children were: Newton (1850), Munroe (1855), Lowell M. (1858), Fred O. (1867) Edwin H. (1866), James (1868), Libbie M. (1873) and Amelia (1875).  During the Civil War Oscar served with Co. F, 10th NY H.A. for  36 months.  The family later moved to Thorp, Clark Co., Wisconsin where Elizabeth died in 1914.  She was buried in the Sylvan Cemetery, Reseburg, Clark Co., WI.  In 1899, Oscar married Mary J. and they resided in Thorp, WI.  Oscar was a member of the G.A.R. (Grand Army of the Republic) and was admitted to the King Veteran's home 12 Mar 1913.  He died 25 Oct 1913 at the age of 86 and was buried in the Home Cemetery, Waupaca, WI
