Henrich & Sophia (Schwarze) Decker

Greenwood, Eaton, Clark Co., Wisconsin

 

"Henry" was born Feb. 2, 1835, at Hohen-hausen, Lippe Detmold, Ger., the son of Hans Heinrich and Anna Maria (Brandt) Decker.  In his 22nd or 23rd year he came to Sheboygan Co., WI.  He served in the Civil War with Co C., 27th Wis. Inf. from 1862 to 1864.  His records indicate he stood 5’9", had blue eyes, light hair and a light complexion. After his return, he married Sophia Schwarze in 1867.  May 1870 the family moved to Clark Co. settling on a 240 acre farm in sec. 5 & 6, Warner Twp., about 3 mi. W. of Greenwood where they lived until 1902, when they moved to the Braun Settlement, about 5 mi. N.  With hard labor they built a new home, living there until Henry’s death 6 Aug 1913, just a year after Sophia’s passing, 1 Aug 1912.  Their children were: Anna (b. 18 Jul 1870), Edwin (b. 31 Mar 1872), Gustav (b.13 Mar 1874), Ludwig (b. 21 Aug 1875), Theodore (b. 29 Dec 1876), Auguste Mathilde (b. 4 Nov 1878), Clara Sophie (12 Mar 1881), Alfred Heinrich (3 Jan 1883), Arthur Friedrich (29 Jan 1886).

Heinrich Decker Military Record--Civil War Veteran of Clark county, WI

Enlisted August 21st, 1862, Herman Township, Sheboygan Co., WI

Served as a private in Company C, 27th Regiment of the Wisconsin Infentry commanded by Capt Frederick Snell.

Discharged at Little Rock Ark on 16th of June 1865.

Applied for Pension on 8th August, 1879.

Received pension July 1910 in the amount of $30.00 per month.
