Benjamin Franklin Brown

Benjamin Franklin was born 23 Feb 1844 in Marengo Co., IL, the son of Peris and Henrietta (Ballou) Brown.  He married Nettie Chandler.  Benjamin's sister, Ann Emmeline, married Alfred S. Eatonwho was one of the founding members of the John A. Eaton GAR Post of Greenwood, WI.  Benjamin was a pioneer resident and merchant in Greenwood, Clark Co., Wis., having a store known as Brown and Chandler.  Arends Bros. later occupied that space.  "Ben" was the first postmaster of Greenwood and he and Nettie were the parents of Maud (b. 2 May 1849, d. 10 Feb 1932).  Ben died at his home at 1808 Irving Av. S., Minneapolis, MN, during June, 1919.  He was a veteran of the Civil War, having served as 1st Sgt. with the 5th Wis. Inf.
