Braun, Herb (1909 - 1982)


Herb Braun, 72, of 317 N. West St., Loyal, Clark County, died at St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield, on Saturday evening, Feb. 13, 1982.

Services for Mr. Braun were at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 16, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Loyal. Rev. James Logan officiated and interment was in the parish cemetery.

A Parish Council of Catholic Women Rosary was conducted at 3:15 p.m. and Elks Lodge of Sorrow service at 7:30 p.m. and a Prayer Service at 8 p.m., Monday, Feb. 15.

Serving as pallbearers were Wally Szymanski, Mike Weyhmiller, Vern Dahlby, Jack Fulwiler, Donald Hills and Bernard Denk. Full Military rites were conducted by the Loyal American Legion. Rinka Funeral Home, Loyal, handled arrangements.

Herb Braun was born May 22, 1909, at Loyal to the late Alois and Mary (nee Behrens) Braun. He was educated at Loyal Parochial and High School.

He and Margaret Church were married on Aug. 14, 1934, at Loyal. He worked for his dad at the Ford Garage as a salesman, and later built and operated Braun's Bowling Alley for 25 years. He retird and has been living in the city since.

He was a member of st. Anthony's Catholic Church Loyal American Legion, Marshfield Elks Club and was a World War II Marine Corps veteran.

Surviving him are his wife, Margaret one daughter, Mrs. Ronald (June) Hoeser of Loyal two sisters, Miss Gertrude Braun of Loyal and Mrs. A.J. Clara Mueller of Marshfield and one grandchild, Elizabeth.

Preceding him in death were his parents one brother one sister and one grandson, David.
