Coryell, Emma (1896 - 1982)


Emma Coryell, 85, formerly of Loyal, Clark County, who had been residing at Memorial Home, Neillsville, died at about 1 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 26, 1982, at the home.

Services will be conducted by Rev. Charles Sanford at the United Methodist Church, Loyal, at 11 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 28.

Visitations will be after 4 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 27, and after 9:30 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 28, at Rinka Funeral Home, Loyal. A 7:30 p.m. Royal Neighbors Service will be conducted on Wednesday evening.

Burial will be in the East Lawn Cemetery, Beloit, with Neil Johnston, Byron Zepplin, Celen Gotter, Carl Gehrt, Everett Gehrt and Bob Bertz serving as pallbearers. Rinka Funeral Home, Loyal, is handling arrangements.

Emma Johnston was born on Aug. 18, 1896, to Wm. And Hattie Johnston. She received her education at Beloit and attended nursing school in Chicago.

She was married to James Ludwig in 1911. Following his death, she married Frank Coryell in 1920, at Loyal, He died in 1957.

They farmed in the Loyal area from 1920 until 1940 when they moved to Loyal. She was employed as a practical nurse. For the past six and one-half years she has been living at Memorial Home, Neillsville.

She was a member of the Loyal United Methodist Church and a 50 years member of Royal Neighbors.

Survivors include one son, William Ludwig of Tucson, Ariz. one brother, Arthur Johnston of Rockford, Ill. two sisters, Anne Quade of Whitewater and Esther Chambers of Augusta one grandson, Roger Ludwig of Chicago five step-daughters, Mrs. John (Marion) Warosh of Edgar, Mrs. Marie Mellien, La Mesa, Cal., Mrs. Gordon (Myrtle) Fremming of Tucson, Ariz., Mrs. Eva Jensen of Chicago and Mrs. Robert (Dorothy) Mogensen of Burlington eight step-grandchildren 22 step-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her husbands and one step-son.
