Keller, Marie E. (1895 - 1981)


Marie E. Keller, 86, of 308 East 6th St., Neillsville, Clark County, died early Monday morning, June 29, 1981, at Memorial Hospital, Neillsville, following a brief illness.


Funeral services will be conducted Friday, July 3, at 1:30 p.m., at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Neillsville. Rev. Norman W. Lindloff will officiate and burial will be in the Neillsville City Cemetery.


Friends may call at the Gesche Funeral Home, Neillsville, from 5:00 until 9:00 p.m., Thursday Friday morning until noon and an hour before the services at the church.


Marie Schroeder was born on Jan. 16, 1895, in the Town of Pine Valley, Clark County, to Fredrick and Helene (nee Blum) Schroeder. She received her education at St. John's Lutheran School, Neillsville.


She worked for the railroad as a cook in the Ladysmith area, before marrying Albert Ott on April 11, 1917. They farmed in the Town of Grant for many years. He died on Nov. 6, 1933, and she moved back to Neillsville.


She married George Keller on June 27, 1945. He died on Feb. 3, 1955.


She was employed as a cook in various restaurants in the City of Neillsville for many years. She was also a cook at Memorial Hospital and cooked for the Neillsville Rotary for over 25 years.


She is survived by seven children, three step-children, two sisters, two brothers, 52 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren.


Gesche Funeral Home, Neillsville, handled arrangements.
