Steltenpohl, Betty J. (1931 - 2002)


Betty J. Steltenpohl, 70, Neillsville, Clark County, died on Sunday, Dec. 30, 2001, at St. Joseph's Palliative Care, Marshfield. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, Jan.2, at Rembs/Kundinger Funeral Home, Marshfield. The Rev. Peter K. Muschinske officiated. Burial was in Hillside Cemetery, Marshfield.


Betty Jean Whipple was born on May 12, 1931, in Easton, Colo., to Ira and Isabel (nee Rogers) Whipple. As a young child, she moved to the Chili area with her parents. She married Elmer Steltenpohl on Dec. 17, 1949, in Pine City, Minn. She and her husband owned and operated the Edgetown Drive-in restaurant in Greenwood, for several years. She enjoyed her family, fishing, gardening and watching wildlife.


Survivors include her husband two daughters, Debby (Dave) Marty, Marshfield, and Judy (Charles) Best, Marshfield two sons, Denis (Debbie) Steltenpohl, Wautoma, and Jerold (Diane) Steltenpohl, Gwinn, Mich. five grandchildren, Amy (Tim) Handel, Jason Steltenpohl, Jason Steltenpohl, Gregory (Heather) Steltenpohl, Alanna Best three great-grandchildren, Seth and Tanner Handel and Bayley Steltenpohl two sisters, Louise Wagner, Hartford, and Rosie Brandt, Medford four brothers, Richard (Ardie) Whipple, Hartford, Robert (Carol) Whipple, Downers Grove, Fla., Jerry (Eldora) Whipple, Mosinee, and Ronald Whipple, Texas and several nieces and nephews.


Preceding her in death were her parents, two brothers, and two sisters.


The Rembs/Kundinger Funeral Home, Marshfield, assisted the family with arrangements.
