Clouse, Ira C. (1887 - 1980)


Ira C. Clouse, 92, of Route 2, Loyal, Clark County, died early Saturday morning, June 28, 1980 at St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield.


Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m., Tuesday, July 1 at the Free Methodist Church, Loyal. Rev. Michael Gray officiated and interment was in the Loyal Cemetery.


Ira Clouse was born in the Town of Loyal on Sept. 16, 1887 to Charles and Edith (nee Mack) Clouse and received his education at the Mack School.


He was married to Jennie Lewis on Jan. 19, 1907 at Loyal. She died in 1944.


His second marriage took place on Nov. 7, 1945 at Loyal to Harriet Berg. She died in 1975.


He lived in the Loyal area for 75 years and was engaged in buying and selling cattle in his early years. He farmed in the Town of Loyal for 35 years. He retired and moved to Texas, where he operated a root beer stand until 1970. He has been living there since his retirement.


Surviving him is one son, Bernard of Loyal, four daughters, Mrs. Pearl Weaver of Pontiac, Ill., Mrs. Ruby Rupp of Wadena, Minn. Mrs. Harly (Verna) Reigel of Sun Prairie and Miss Mary Jean Clouse of Colby one brother, Louis of Black River Falls one step-son, Robert Berg of Amarillo, Texas one step-daughter, Mrs. John (Marise) Haesle of Pampa, Texas 19 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by one son in infancy one daughter three brothers and three sisters.


Memorial may be given to the Gideon Memorial Bible Fund.


Serving as pallbearers were Charles Reigel, Dr. Richard Reigel, Dr. Donald Reigel, James Reigel, David Clouse and Stephen Clouse.


Rinka Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
