Mejia, Rose Mary (1930 - 2001)


Rose Mary Mejia, 71, Neillsville, Clark County, formerly of Chicago, Ill., died on Wednesday, June 20, 2001, at Memorial Medical Center, Neillsville. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., on Friday, June 22, at the Gesche Funeral Home, Neillsville. The Rev. Joseph Henseler officiated. Interment was in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Neillsville. Pallbearers were her children.


Rose Mary Velasquez was born on May 21, 1930, in Chicago, Ill., to Peter and Mary (nee Reyes) Velasquez. She attended St. Mary's Catholic School in Chicago. She married Charles Cordoves and later married Robert Mejia. She worked as a secretary/bookkeeper for an insurance Company and also as a child care provider and bookkeeper for a day care center. She had lived in Chicago, Ill., Cary, Ill., and Neillsville.


Survivors include six children, Mary Ellen Greenburg, Neillsville, Rose Marie LaBarbera, Neillsville, Catherine Mejia, Chicago, Ill., Robert Paul Mejia, Neillsville, Elizabeth Reyes, Santa Barbara, Calif., and Carmen Mejia, Chicago, Ill. four grandchildren one sister, Carmen Ruiz, Cary, Ill. and three brothers, Paul Velasquez, David Velasquez, and Frank Velasques, all of Chicago, Ill.


She was preceded in death by her parents two children, Charles Anthony and Jane Frances and two brothers, Robert and Peter.
The Gesche Funeral Home, Neillsville, assisted the family with arrangements.
