Thwing, David A. (1888 - 1969)
 

GREENWOOD, CLARK COUNTY--David A. Thwing, 80, of Greenwood died May 29, 1969 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield, where he was a patient since May 9 and had undergone surgery.


Mr. Thwing, son of Willamette and Clara Scovel Thwing, was born Sept. 17, 1888, in Greenwood. He was married to Flossie Williams Nov. 8, 1922, in Beach, N.D. They lived in North Dakota five years and in Drummond, Mont., four years before coming to Clark County, where he farmed for a number of years. Later he was employed for 10 years at Clark Electric and retired 10 years ago. He was a veteran of World War I and served in France and Germany.


He is survived by his wife a son, Jesse Thwing of Marshfield a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Elsie) Miles of Crafton, Md. three grandchildren two sisters, Mrs. Ruth Stowe of Abbotsford and Mrs. Albert (Bernice) Ehlert of Owen three brothers, Rufus Thwing of Havana, N.D., Ralph Thwing of Stanley and Henry Thwing of Clintonville.


Funeral services were held May 31 from the Hill Funeral Home in Greenwood. The Rev. LeRoy Gross, pastor of the Missionary Baptist Church officiated. Military rites were in charge of the Wallis-Hinker American Legion Post, No. 238. Burial was made in the Greenwood Cemetery.
