Cox, Ernest (1864 - 1961)


GREENWOOD, CLARK COUNTY Funeral services were held at Edgerton Friday morning for Ernest E. Cox, 97, a former Greenwood resident, who died there Wednesday, Nov. 29, 1961. A short service preceded burial in the Greenwood Cemetery Friday afternoon. The Rev. Victor Skagg of Edgerton officiated.


Mr. Cox was born Oct. 11, 1864 in Canada. He was married in Nov. 1891 in Greenwood to the former Laura Cook who died here in 1902. He lived most of his life here and was employed in logging and lumbering camps before his retirement 25 years ago. For the past 25 years he made his home with is son and daughter-in-law in Edgerton.


He is survived by a son, Clayton of Edgerton two grandchildren four great-grandchildren and a brother, E. Cox of Spencer.


Preceding him in death were two daughters a son and several brothers and sisters.
