Brandt, John H. (1868 - 1955)


GREENWOOD, CLARK COUNTY--An 86-year-old resident of Greenwood, John H. Brandt, died Sunday, May 5, 1955, in St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield, where he had been a patient since April 25.


Born Oct. 18, 1868 in Germany, Mr. Brandt came to this country at the age of 11 months and settled in Plymouth. A short time later the family came to a farm in the Town of Beaver.


Mr. Brandt was married to Minnie Rossow Aug. 28, 1902, in Loyal. The couple resided on a farm 5 miles northeast of here until their retirement six years ago, when they came to the city. They celebrated their golden wedding in 1952.


For a number of years, Mr. Brandt was treasurer of the Maple Center School.


He is survived by his wife and son, Paul Brandt, Rochester a daughter, Mrs. James (Emma) Morrow, Colby a sister, Mrs. Fred Kuester, Loyal four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.


Two brothers and four sisters preceded him in death.


Friends may call beginning Wednesday noon at the Stabnow Funeral Home, where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday. The Rev. Arthur Riley, pastor of grace Methodist Church, will officiate and burial will take place in the Greenwood Cemetery.
