Stafford, Elmer James (1885 - 1968)


GREENWOOD, CLARK COUNTY--Services were conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at the Hill Funeral Home here for Elmer James Stafford, 83, Greenwood, who died at 7 p.m. Friday at the Memorial Home in Neillsville. The Rev. Carl Booher, pastor of Grace United Methodist Church, officiated, and burial was made in the Greenwood Cemetery.


Mr. Stafford was born May 25, 1885, in Greenwood, and lived here until four years ago, when he went to a nursing home at Neillsville. He had farmed in the Greenwood area and later had been employed by the city of Greenwood.


His marriage to Dimple Stella Westphal took place Dec. 3, 1907, at Greenwood.


Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Marvin (Edith) Churkey, Owen Mrs. Arnold (Leona) Mueller, Loyal and Mrs. James (Bethel) Stevens, Heber, Utah three sons, Don, Greenwood Earl, Unity, and Lyle, Kenosha 14 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.


Two daughters and a brother preceded him in death.
