Cox, Minnie Lena (1884 - 1965)


GREENWOOD--Mrs. Minnie Cox, 81, Greenwood, Clark County, was found dead of a heart attack at her home Wednesday evening, June 30, 1965.


Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Grace Methodist Church in Greenwood. The Rev. Carl Booher will officiate, and burial will be made in the Greenwood Cemetery.


The body will repose at the Hill Funeral Home here until 11 a.m. Saturday, and then at the church.


The former Minnie Lena Heiking was born Jan. 5, 1884, in Marshall, Wis., and as a young girl moved with her parents to Marshfield, where she had lived for several years before coming to Greenwood. Her marriage to Sidney J. Cox, who preceded her in death, August 1937, took place June 9, 1915, at Greenwood.


Mrs. Cox was a member of the Grace Methodist Church in Greenwood, and its Women's Society of Christian Service a member of the Royal Neighbors Forest Queen Camp, the American Legion Auxiliary, and the Canasta Club. She became a Gold Star mother when a step-son, Aubrey, was killed in World War I.


Survivors include two sons, Lawrence Cox, Greenwood and Hugh Cox, Janesville a daughter, Evelyn cox, Wisconsin Rapids two brothers, William Heiking, Waterloo and Fred Heiking, Loyal a granddaughter, and two great-granddaughters.


She was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother.
