HIUM RITES ARE HELD THURSDAY--SERVICE CONDUCTED IN GREENWOOD CHURCH
 

Greenwood--Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at Immanuel United Church of Christ for Theodore Hium, 61, who died Monday, Sept. 19, 1960. The Rev. Orval Egbert officiated and burial was made in West Side Cemetery, where military graveside rites were conducted.


Pallbearers were John Zimmer, Hubert Kuehn, Walter Schwarze, Henry Keller, Otto Kind Sr. and Al Baer.
Honorary pallbearers were Paul Kippenhan, John Meng, Alfred Schwarze, John Mortl, Kenneth Rodgers, Fred Behrens, Dave Thwing and Carl Stabnow, all Legion members.


Mrs. Calvin Awe, Mrs. Phillip Vollrath, Mrs. Delmar Toburen, Mrs. Norman Liebzeit, and Mrs. George Humke, accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Walter Schwarze, sang The Land of the Unsetting Sun and Beautiful Isle of Somewhere.


Mr. Hium was born June 11, 1899 in the Town of Sterling, Vernon County, where he resided until the age of 21. He came to Greenwood, Clark County in 1920 and after his marriage to the former Emma Wehrman on June 5, 1922, settled on a farm in the Town of Warner, northwest of Greenwood. For the past several years he was employed by John Deere Implement Company in Withee.


Surviving are his wife, a son, Ken, at home a daughter, Mrs. Chester (Marie) Nirva, Withee two sisters, Mrs. Joseph (Marie) Cummings, Los Angeles, Calif., and Mrs. Harry (Stella) Gordee, Greenwood. There are six grandchildren.


A sister preceded him in death.
