OBITUARY OF SIDNEY G. SMITH


Sidney G. Smith
was born on July 19, 1869 at Morton, Wis. to Mr. and Mrs. Steve Smith and passed away quite suddenly at his home in the Town of Eaton, Clark County on Jan. 20, 1940. Death was caused by a heart attack after a year's illness resulting from a heart ailment.


He was married to Alice Farmer on May 24, 1894 at Fond du Lac. After living in Hartford, Wis. for a year, they moved to a farm one mile south of Loyal. Two years later they purchased the present home 3 miles west of Loyal, where they have made their home for the past 42 years.


Mr. Smith served on the school board for 19 years and was a member of the town board many years. He was a member of the Equitable Fraternal Union Lodge of Loyal.


Surviving are his wife, three sons, Wm., Edward of Milton Junction Jesse Stephen of Lake Geneva, and James Vernon at home a brother, Ed Smith, California, nine grandchildren and four nieces. One son and one daughter preceded him in death.


Funeral services were conducted Thursday afternoon, Rev. Orlando Jewell officiating, and burial was in the Loyal Cemetery.


Pallbearers were John Wuethrich, Verne Millard, Chester Smith, Fred Heiking, Wm. Tucker and Rob McConnell. Flower girls were Mrs. John Wuethrich, Mrs. Wm. Tucker, Mrs. Chester Smith, Mrs. Fred Heiking, and Mrs. Otto Friske.
