OBITUARY OF ALONZO A. VOLK


Alonzo A. Volk
, son of Mrs. Anna Volk, was born in Greenwood, Clark County Wis., Oct. 7, 1897. The early part of his life he spent here and at Loyal, where he was employed in a cheese and butter factory. After attending the Dairy School at the University of Wisconsin in 1915 he went to Allen, where he took charge of a cheese factory which was later changed to a milk receiving plant for the Condensary at Osseo, Wis., and which he conducted up to the time of his death.


He was united in marriage to Miss Anna Wiler of Allen, at the Sacred Heart Church, Mondovi, on Nov. 27, 1919. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church of Eau Claire and the Guardian Angel Catholic Church at Brackett, Wis. He was also a member of the Catholic Forester Lodge.


Alonzo passed away at his home in Allen, April 19, 1939 after an illness of a few weeks.


He is survived by his wife at Allen, his mother, Mrs. Anna Volk of this city, two brothers, Floyd of Bellevue, Wash Perry of Loyal, Wis. and one sister, Mrs. R. L. Barnes of Greenwood, and five nieces and five nephews, besides many other relatives and a host of friends. His father, Jacob Volk passed away in 1912.


A Solemn Requiem High Mass was said at the Guardian Angel Catholic Church at Brakett on Monday morning April 24, 1939, at 9:00 o'clock, with Rev. Father Schulte, pastor, as celebrant, Rev. Father J. Novak of Greenwood as Deacon and the Rev. Father Schable of Sacred Heart Hospital of Eau Claire as Sub-Deacon. The body was laid to rest in the Guardian Angel Cemetery at Brackett.


Those from here who attended the funeral were Dr. and Mrs. R. L. Barnes and daughters, Mrs. Anna Volk, Mrs. Caroline Volk, Mrs. Bertha Volk, Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Buker, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Stabnow, Mrs. Harry Hogue, Mrs. E. T. Burch, Ed Fahey and Durward Schwarze Mr. and Mrs. Perry Volk of Loyal, Floyd Volk of Bellevue, Wash. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Palms of Menomonie.
