JOHN H. STAFFORD PASSES AWAY


John Henry Stafford passed away in his sleep at his home here Monday evening, June 23, 1941 at 7:15 p.m. Mr. Stafford suffered a stroke on March 1 and has suffered several strokes since then. He had reached the age of 75 years, 7 months and 5 days.


He was born in Janesville, Wis. on Oct. 28, 1865, son of Mary and Isaac Stafford. On Dec. 12, 1894 he was united in marriage to Nellie Benedict of Janesville, Wis. To this union were born 5 children, Ralph, who died in infancy, Mrs. Paul (Lillian) Rossman, Withee Kenneth, Abercombie, N.D. Daniel and Harry at home.


They came to Greenwood, Clark County in 1907, settling on a farm southwest of town.


Three years later they moved to the present farm in the City of Greenwood.


He is survived by his wife and children and 2 grandsons, Robert Rossman, La Crosse, Wis. and Kenny Lee Stafford of Abercombie, N.D., besides a host of friends.


Funeral services will be held today (Thursday) at 2:00 p.m. at the home, Rev. A. J. Abbott officiating. Interment will be made in the Greenwood Cemetery.
