OBITUARY FOR CARL J. SORENSON

Carl J. Sorenson was born in Chirstiania, Norway, Feb. 21, 1880. Died at Antigo, Wis., July 11, 1924. He came to America with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. N. K. Sorenson, in June 1884.

The family lived at Unity three years and near Longwood, Clark County one year, moving to Withee in 1889 where Carl grew to manhood.

For a number of years he worked for the J. S. Owen Lumber Co., in the saw mill and as lumber grader.

In 1906 he went into the employ of the Mears, Slayton Lumber Co. of Chicago, being located at Evanston, Ill., for four years. The four years following he traveled through northern Wisconsin for the same company. Since that time he has been employed as lumber inspector for the Brown Lumber Co., of Antigo.

He was married to Irene DeLong, April 30, 1914, at Rhinelander, Wis. She died one year later, leaving an infant son only one day old. His wife's widowed mother has ever since lived in his home and lovingly and unselfishly devoted herself to caring for those so suddenly bereft of wife and mother. May God reward her for the cheer and comfort she gave to one so sadly disappointed.

Besides these he leaves father, mother, three brothers and two sisters, Arthur, Oscar and Lulu, who live with their parents on the home farm near Longwood William of Goodman, Wis. and Mrs. Inga Kuester of Menomonie, Wis.

All were present at the funeral.

He was a member of the M.W.A. Lodge of Withee, also the B.P.O.E of Antigo, under whose auspices the funeral was held.

He was laid to rest beside his wife at Shiacton, Wis, July 14.
