Forrest Shanks, of Chippewa Falls, a Soo Line railroad conductor who formerly lived in Stevens Point, died at St. Joseph's Hospital at Chippewa Falls this morning at 8:30 o'clock. He had been ill for the past three weeks and was confined to the hospital most of that time.


Mr. Shanks, a resident of Stevens Point about 30 years, moved to Chippewa Falls last February. He was a Soo Line employee many years and worked until his illness.


Surviving are his wife, two sons, Delmar of Eau Claire and Grover of Stevens Point, a daughter, Elaine at home, a sister in Eau Claire and a brother in Ontonagon, Michigan.


Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Lutheran Church at Greenwood and burial will follow in a Greenwood cemetery. The body is at Chippewa Falls where it will be until noon Thursday when it will be taken to Greenwood. Note: Forrest Shanks was born May 17, 1883, the son of Isadora (Babb) and David Shanks.
