LORRAINE HOFKES (1920 - 2000)


Lorraine HOFKES, 80, former Boyd and Eau Claire resident, passed away on Tuesday, March 14, 2000, at Boswell Memorial Hospital in Sun City, Arizona.


She was born in Cadott on March 8, 1920, to Emil and Adelaide (NABBEFELD) RIPIENSKI. She married Charles HOFKES on June 16, 1943, and they raised their family in Boyd. She worked as a homemaker and as a bookkeeper for Hofkes Chevrolet in Stanley for 27 years.


She was a volunteer driver for the Boyd ambulance and was an active member of the St. Elizabeth Society in Boyd. She enjoyed bowling, oil painting, and playing Scrabble. She was a devoted wife and mother who dedicated her life to her family.


Lorraine is survived by four daughters: Diana STRZOK, Anchorage, AK, Kay (Dennis) SIMON of Eau Claire, Patti (Michael) CHONG of Redwood City, Cal, Jeanie HOFKES of Marshfield a son, Robert (Luann) HOFKES of Boyd 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren four sisters, Agnes COTE of Chippewa Falls, Genevieve (Ron) PARR of Eau Claire, Mary Ann NOVAK of Stanley, Catherine YERKMAN of New Holstein two brothers, Raymond (Lois) RIPIENSKI and Emil (Deloris) RIPIENSKI, Jr., both of Chippewa Falls.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles HOFKES, in October 1999, her parents, two sisters, and a brother.


A memorial mass was held at Sacred Heart/St. Joseph Catholic Church in Boyd Saturday, March 18. Burial will be held at a later date.


Smith Funeral Chapel of Eau Claire assisted the family.
