OBITUARY OF MRS. CLARA BORSETH

From the Greenwood Gleaner and from the scrapbook of Mrs. Andrews, former librarian of The Greenwood Public Library, Greenwood, Wisconsin (Clark County).

Mrs. Clara Borseth, daughter of John and Ingrid Krokson, was born March 23, 1871 at Bleking, Sweden.

At the age of 18 years she came to the United States. She was employed for a few years at Cadillac, Mich., where she met and married Ingebright Borseth.

To this union were born two daughters, Edith, Mrs. S. Pederson, Trondbiem, Norway and Lillian Borseth, Minneapolis, Minn. In 1898 they came to Greenwood and kept a restaurant and bakery for a number of years. Mr. Borseth passed away on December 28, 1902 after which Mrs. Borseth continued in business for a short time.

In 1907 she went to Minneapolis and was employed as pastry chef at various cafeterias and clubs. For a period of five years she conducted the Borsch Bakery and lunch room. About a year ago her health began to fail and she was forced to retire, spending the last year of her life quietly at her home at 3031 Chicago Avenue.

She was a woman of sterling character, a devoted mother and a true friend. The many beautiful floral tributes bore evidence of the esteem in which she was held.

Besides two daughters, she leaves to mourn her loss six brothers, Axel Krokson of Cornell Fred of Minneapolis, Minn. victor, Morris and Ernest of Greenwood and Oscar of Park Rapids, Minn. Her parents, two brothers and one sister having preceded her in death.
After a short illness she passed away May 24, 1938 in Fairview hospital, Minneapolis. Services were conducted at Welaridete-Quist Chapel 2301 Dupont Ave. South, May 26 at 4 P.M. The following day services were conducted by Rev. A. E. Norson at the United Lutheran church at Greenwood. Her body was laid to rest beside that of her husband in the beautiful Greenwood Cemetery.

The pallbearers were Adolph Schwarze, Albert Schwarze, John Johnson, Olaf Johnson, Adolph Tornquist and Elmer Johnson.

The flower girls were Mrs. Albert Dahl, Mrs. Emil Kilstad, Mrs. Elmer Johnson and Miss Melva Alkend.

Those from out of town who attended the funeral were Lillian Borseth, Fred Krokson, Mr. and Mrs. Bloomgren, and Elmer Ekian of Minneapolis; Axel Krokson and two sons, Albert and Elmer of Cornell; Mr. and Mrs. Don Drew and son Jack and Miss Evelyn Krokson, Alma; Dr. and Mrs. K. W. Baker of Owen; and Mrs. H. Salzwedel of Marshfield.
